This was part of a family/business/fair trip. We arrived in Rutland, VT the evening before our fair visit and stayed in a crappy Rodeway Inn. We got pictures of the midway at night from a distance. We arrived at the fair too early for most things, so left and came back at 11am. The most striking thing about this fair is how conversational everyone was. The mirror-painting folks, the nature photography booth, the copper flamed jewelry booth and the Gideon representative all engaged us in very interesting chats about their trade. We also heard a loud air horn twice, once in the evening and again in the morning. Turns out that the village used to have a curfew for the youth at 10 minutes to 9 in the morning and evening. Though the curfew was done away with, the horn remains for nostalgic reasons. The agricultural exhibits were better than recent fairs. (The bunny-lady was also quite conversational.) We had ribbon fries per tradition, but they were very disappointing (greasy and soft).
