Planned this one at the end of a NY trip to see family. We left NY on 7/25 and overnighted in Blackwood, NJ after a terrible rush-hour experience through Philadelphia. Thursday we drove a little out of our way to the Cape May/Lewes Ferry and sailed across Delaware Bay. We met up with Alex Shehu and his girlfriend, Erika, for a late lunch, then overnighted in Dover, DE. We got to the fair at 8:30AM. It had been raining all week, but the weather was good now (although quite hot). The fairgrounds were very well-kept and most exhibit buildings were modern and air-conditioned. There were a lot of horses to see and overall the livestock selection was very complete. There weren’t as many bunnies as some other fairs, but David still got to see several rows of cages full, and even held a baby chick. There was a good selection of old and new farm equipment, although we didn’t see any demonstrations available. We saw most of a travelling circus, although their tent was unbearably hot, so we left toward the end. Alongside the circus tent (which was a part of the circus), they also had a “petting zoo” of sorts, with a very clever name…Giraffic Park… which we checked out before seeing the circus. Lisa got to feed carrots to the 2 giraffes, and enjoyed looking at the other animals as well, including 2 zebras, goats, ponies, etc. The local exhibits of crafts, 4H, and FFA were extensive and interesting. Being so hot, I got a refillable homemade root beer mug which I refilled several times. Lisa also enjoyed her lemonade. We left the fair in the early afternoon, and went to the Woodcooks in Chesapeake, VA before heading home the next day.

Best FoodVery tasty cinnamon bun, ribbon fries, pork kababs, and Lisa’s usual bag of cotton candy
