We spent two days in Alabama (Florence, Muscle Shoals, Tuscumbia, Sheffield) waiting for the fair to open. During that time we visited the Helen Keller birthplace (Ivy Green), a Frank Lloyd Wright house (the Rosenbaum house), 3 waterfalls, and the AL Music Hall of Fame. We also stopped by FAME Recording Studios, but they were not giving tours at a convenient time for us. We usually are not good at unstructured time, but this was quite enjoyable. Although the fair was another one with weeknight hours, a little on the smaller side, and we were there on opening night, it did not disappoint. The vendor and craft booths were interesting and engaging. We got to see the 4-cylinder heat of the demolition derby which we have never done before. The animal exhibit consisted of only rabbits, piglets and poultry, but Lisa got to feed and play with them. She also got to cuddle with a baby Sugar Glider. It was a short visit, but we made 100 miles for home before checking into a hotel.
